Surgery is over! We are so happy to report that surgery went well this morning. The doctor came out after 4 hours of surgery to give us a report on what he found. We are so amazed at how the Lord is continuing to show his power in our time of crisis. They were able to remove all of the cancer that they were able to see. The cancer had embedded itself in her omentum, and they had to remove it, or at least part of it, they also had to remove a few inches of her small intestines. The cancer was also on her bladder, but the doctor was able to remove it by scraping it off. Overall it was a GREAT report. We are so thankful to the Lord for hearing, and answering our prayers.
She is still in a great deal of pain. Please pray that they will be able to keep her pain under control. They expect her to be in the hospital for 4-5 days, and then she will start chemo in 3 weeks.
I will try to update more frequently as we continue on our journey. Thanks to all of you for your prayers, and please keep on praying!

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5,6
Such a familiar verse to us, many of us could probably quote it backwards! Not such an easy verse to actually apply to our lives when situations seem so uncertain. It is hard to trust the Lord when the situation seems so dire, and we have so little control of it.
I am amazed at how the Lord has already answered prayers on our behalf, even though I know I am not trusting Him like I should. I would like to share with you some amazing things that He has done.
Monday, December 8, the doctor called and told my mom the results of her CTscan. After she got of the phone with her doctor, she called to make an appointment with the oncologist. She made her appointment for December 22. I was a little panicked when she told me her appointment was so far away, I wanted to get into the oncologist that day, not two weeks later. Anyway, I called some of my friends, and asked them to pray that mom could get into the oncologist sooner, hopefully within the week. Through circumstances only orchestrated by the Lord (with the help of Michelle), mom got into the oncologist the next day! I would have never asked the Lord to get her into the the Dr. the next day, probably b/c I didn't believe He would answer that prayer. How faitheful He is, even when we have such little faith. Not only did mom get into the oncologist on Tuesday, she was able to get her biospy on Thursday, and the doctor called her on Saturday evening with the results. In the conversation with the doctor, he explained how serious this was, and he scheduled surgery for January 7. I know you will all be shocked to know that January 7th seemed very far away! I couldn't believe the doctor would wait that long to get this out of her. Well, again God was taking care of things for me, and the doctors office called mom Monday morning, and moved the surgery up to December 29th!

The effectual fervant prayers of a righteous man can accomplish much. James 5:16b
As I struggle to process all that I have heard over the past week, I am encouraged by these words. I must confess to you though, at this point and time I am not feeling very “righteous”. I am afraid and selfish, and embarrassed to say, but sometimes even faithless. I am counting on the prayers of my friends to help us all get through this valley that we have been thrown into.
I can already tell that God is hearing your prayers, I know He is because I am not crying all the time :)
Four days ago, we got the information that her cancer has returned. She has a grapefruit size tumor in her abdomen. The doctors will be removing it on December 29, at 7:00 a.m. After she recovers from surgery, she will start chemotherapy. I do not have any details on that, but as soon as I do, I will post them.
Mom is going in for a PET scan on Friday the 19th, she will also have several pre-op tests that day. Please pray that everything will run smoothly for her.
